Fibers are one of the safest types of embellishments that are available for Scrapbooking. Fibers are acid free and soft so they will not abrade or damage your photos.
However, if you are still concerned about the safety of your photos, you can also follow the advice of many scrapbookers and either separate your fibers from the photos on the page, use archival safe page protectors as a buffer between your photos and the fibers, or use duplicate copies of your photos.
Please note, however, we recommend that you do NOT use our fibers, while naturally acid free , for heritage photographs or those irreplaceable photos. We find that the guidelines for safety and care of heritage photos on this website Guidelines For Preserving Your Photographic Heritage very helpful. For heritage layouts with any embellishments we strongly recommend that you use a duplicate copy of your heritage photographs.
One of the newest hottest trends in Scrapbooking is the use of metal embellishments. While we can not certify that these charms are archivally safe, we have loved to use them and use them on our own work. Some of our products have been on a scrapbook layout, in the very humid environment of Singapore and Taiwan for over 2 years and we have not seen any signs of rust or deterioration.
We purchase direct from the manufacturers and as a result we are not able to control dye lots, fiber quality, and run size from the manufacturer. Therefore, we are very selective and if we do not find the fibers of high quality, or if the manufacturer discontinues a fiber, we may have to second source or discontinue that collection. We always attempt to buy sufficient stock to keep on hand, but every now and then our supply will change.
Therefore we suggest that if you foresee the need for a particular amount of an individual fiber –or a collection of fibers- that you purchase enough for your project.

One of the questions that we hear most often is “what can you do with Fibers?” Well, really as many things as you can imagine…Fibers can be used in scrapbooking, card making, rubber stamping, collages, crazy quilting, to wrap presents, altered books, and on and on and on.
